A slow pace in the ancient villages of trulli of Valle d'Itria.
Sunday, July 3 from 16.30 to 22.30
The walk takes place in the beautiful scenery of the Murgia, between the territories of Cisternino and Locorotondo, where the hill slopes down steeply to the plain of the centuries old olive trees.
You walk at a slow pace, two and a half hours from late afternoon until sunset, from hamlet to hamlet to immerse yourself fully in these places without the noise of modernity, only the sounds of nature. The added value is the ability to talk to the people living there for generations, young and old guardians of ancient history, heritage, values for simple and immediate transmission.
The route begins at Contrada Marinelli that rises on a hill dominated by an enormous green patriarch, a fringe oak, one of the oaks of the Murgia of Trulli, which is there in the square of the hamlet for centuries, custodian of who knows how many stories and secrets. We visit the ancient church of the Saints Cosma e Damiano, while a local resident is willing to talk about their devotion to Father Francis Convertini who left this place to dedicate his life to poverty, to the poor of India. He began to walk the old paths, paved now, but shortcuts through forests. It arrives at Contrada Zuzu, an ancient villages of trulli, beyond which the hill descends steeply on the Adriatic plain populated by thousands of centuries old olive trees.. There is a strong contrast with the intense blue of the Adriatic Sea when the sky is clear. After so much natural beauty, we leave for the Contrada Tumbinno with its three squares and a typical
Public Cistern . Continuing after a while up a hill with breathtaking views, a significant difference in height takes the breath away and gives a view of a small ravine which cuts across the hill, opening a gap on the Adriatic plain, and pleasantly, it revises the sea. Here we have now arrived in Contrada Serafino, with its wide rocky open space from where we follow a pathto the hamlet of Marinelli. Forests, oak scrub, arable land, pastures, Trulli, dry stone walls, seascapes, rural buildings,cisterns and especially the people and stories of the Contrada (hamlet) . The evening concludes with a buffetwith local delicacies accompanied by a cisternanese wine.

het wordt mooi, het wordt leuk. Te eten en te drinken volgens de traditie van Puglia, dansvoorstellingen, muziek, kortom, je zult je hier niet vervelen. Het gebeurt allemaal rond de ingang van de grotten en is te combineren met Hell in the Cave.
